There were many famous Medieval saints. But how were these men and women made saints and why were they made saints? A Saint is a term used in Christian religions which is used to describe a man or woman who is perceived of being an example of great holiness and virtue and considered capable of interceding with God on behalf of a person who prayed to them. Saints are men and women who have died, and subsequently declared a saint by canonization. Only the Roman Catholic Church has an official process for creating saints. And this was the main Christian religion prior to the reformation movements. There are two main categories of Roman Catholic saints: martyrs and confessors. Famous Medieval Saints were therefore referred to as martyrs or confessors. A martyr is regarded as a man or woman who is put to death for their faith or convictions.
